Peek traffic solutions

1 A Wireless Sensor is a magnetometer capable of low-power radio communications packaged in a small, hardened plastic case suitable for in-pavement mounting.

2 A wireless Access Point collects event data from wireless sensors and repeaters, optionally aggregates it, and forwards it to local signal control equipment, traffic management systems, or a 3rd party application server.

3 A Wireless Repeater is an optional system component that extends the range of an Access Point by receiving and forwarding RF communications between the access point and wireless sensors that would otherwise be out of signal range.

Wireless Detection System

Wireless Detection System®
Peek introduces a new way of detecting vehicles: The Wireless Detection System (WDS). WDS is a combined state-of –the-art magnetic sensor with advanced packet radio technology and it is suitable for various urban, highway and ITS applications.

Detectors collect all required vehicle detection data, including volume, occupancy, speed, presence length classification, headway, gap, direction of travel, queue length. Data is sent to Access Point.
Access Point communicates with detectors over max. distance of 50 meters and 300 meters via Repeaters.

System requires no calibration or routine maintenance and it can be installed within minutes.

Applications

WDS can be used with any modern traffic controller*, Traffic Box or linked directly to web site based real-time traffic information program*.

  • Stop Bar Detection (Occupancy)
  • Advance Detection (Counts)
  • Speed Determination
  • Vehicle Classification
  • Motorway Management
  • Ramp Metering
  • Gap Analysis
  • Red Light & Speed Enforcement
  • Incident Detection in Tunnels
  • Census Counts
* CC Card required if no Ethernet interface developed.
* Real-time Traffic Information System release TBA.

Benefits

Benefits for design company – no conflict with existing underground infrastructure, no approval needed for wireless installation.

Benefits for installation company – WDS installation takes no more than 10 minutes per detector. Installation can be done at any temperature and in reasonable weather conditions.

Benefits for maintenance company – Secured on-line access to every detector over the internet, immediate verification of detector conditions, on-line software upgrade and upgrade of parameters. Detectors are operational within a -40°C to +60°C range.

The road agency – independent Internet access to all detectors without interference to traffic controllers and traffic boxes.
Public access to selected WDS functions via real-time Traffic Information System

Data collection and management of a network of geographically dispersed WDS Access Points and their sensors can then be easily performed by Sensys Networks Archive, Proxy, and Statistics (SNAPS) or Peek Real-Time Traffic Information System. Both systems provide security over Virtual Private Network (VPN).
